Join us on an epic 10-day journey to Myanmar (formerly Burma). Closed off to the world for many generations, Myanmar began to welcome tourists in 2012. It’s a country peppered with pagodas, temples and stupas, providing endless options for photography lovers. We’ll get a rare look into the Buddhist way of life as we respectfully wander through monasteries. There will be no shortage of markets and monks to focus on. We’ll experience the genteel nature of the locals as we mingle into their everyday lives. Without doubt, Myanmar’s spiritual and mystical vibe will leave an imprint on your heart.
For those with a passion for photography and capturing life as it unfolds, this photo workshop is for you, regardless if your a seasoned pro or a newbie to photography. Together, we'll explore some of India's magnificent cities, monuments, and palaces. In our search to capture images from new perspectives, we'll duck into back alleys and narrow streets looking for those moments that captivate us. Highlights of this journey include one night camping in the Thar Desert where we'll focus on dark sky photography, along with capturing the essence of Jodphur, the "blue" city and Jaipur, the "pink" city. The Taj will be ours at sunrise in soft morning light. The ultimate experience will come when we join thousands of locals during the Lathmar Holi Festival. This exuberant Festival celebrates the coming of spring with the throwing of colored powders, pastes, coupled with energetic dancing and singing. You'll find yourself welcomed into crowds as we make our way through the village and temples capturing once-in-a-lifetime images.
While India can seem a daunting journey, put aside your notions of what this country is and discover the kindness of her people and allow yourself to soak in the sights, sounds, smells of this incredible land. The images you take home will tell a story of your remarkable journey and leave you richer in spirit and heart for having witnessed life, unfiltered, in India.
There will be opportunities to learn how to use small strobes on location, along with tips and techniques using Lightroom to edit images. Four-star hotels and all meals are included with the workshop.
If interested, a 3-night extension to Kathmandu, Nepal (focused on cultural and photography) is being offered at the conclusion of the India workshop. Ask for details.

From The Gobi Desert to the Golden Eagle Festival September 23 - October 6, 2020
Sign up by August 15, 2019 and save $300.00
Every year, over 90 hunter Kazakhs, who train Golden Eagles for hunting, gather around in a valley of the Altai Mountains and celebrate the Golden Eagle Festival. Passed down through generations, the skill of hunting with eagles was only preserved among the Mongolian Kazakh community in Mongolia. Thanks to the festival in the past years, this unique tradition is coming back. This trip is one of the best examples of sustainable tourism supporting the local community.
Our journey begins in the Gobi Desert, a diverse ecosystem of Mongolia where high mountains, dry basins and grasslands all co-exist together. We’ll spend two full days at Gobi’s tallest sand dunes, the magnificent Hongoryn Els for various photo opportunities. Next, we’ll fly over the high mountains to the western most part of Mongolia, to participate in the annual Golden Eagle Festival. For two days, experienced hunters will compete with their eagles to test the eagles’ agility and hunting skills. Enjoy spending private time with hunters for close up interaction with the hunters and their raptor birds.
